Bookis won Polar Bear Pitching 2019

Polar Bear Pitching came to an end just a while ago at the market square of Oulu. Bookisfrom Norway won the pitching competition and went home with the main prize of 10 000 euros. The three best were also rewarded with nano composite wine glasses crafted by Tohoku Kogein, a Japanise artist.

 

Finnish Simlab ITwon the second place. They provide a platform for creating virtual environments for educational purposes. VideoCVtook the third place. Their artificial intelligence analyses video CVs for employers. The longest pitch this year was 4:49 minutes by Doerz.

 

In addition to the winning three, there were also other interesting performances, for example Rat Crew Studios. They arrived with a group of medieval knights, the pitcher himself dressed as a shaman.

 

There was a pleasant weather of minus 5 degrees during the competition in Oulu, and the whole market square was filled with activities such as saunas, hot tubs and pond hockey.

 

Polar bear Pitching was held for the sixth time this year. The competition started with hockey player Lasse Kukkonengiving a keynote on climate change, followed by the famous jazz player Iiro Rantala

 

Polar Bear Pitching organization was awarded with a 20 000 euro prize for developing a strong startup community and ecosystem in the Oulu area. The competition will be held next year about the same time as well in Oulu, Finland. Stay tuned!
